Cadence Bank Unveils Economic Update Videos

HOUSTON, April 14, 2015 — Cadence Bank today launched the first of five new Economic Update videos, the final in an eight-part series produced in conjunction with the University of Houston’s C. T. Bauer College of Business and KTRK-TV.

In these segments, Cadence Bank executives with deep expertise in energy, commercial real estate and international trade join Robert Gilmer, Ph.D, director of the Institute for Regional Forecasting at Bauer College, to discuss trending economic concerns facing Houston and the Texas region.

The current series features Cadence Bank’s Hank Holmes, president; Ianni Palandjoglou, head of international banking; Randy Petersen, energy group executive; and Tim Williamson, commercial real estate executive. Together with Gilmer, these experts confront issues such as the economic impact resulting from volatility in the energy industry, Houston’s industrial diversification, the current state of commercial real estate in Houston, the role of international trade in the local economy, and the impact that diminished business confidence has had on capital spending.

The Institute for Regional Forecasting, led by Gilmer, focuses on developments in the Houston business cycle, monitoring the effects on the Gulf Coast region of the national economy, energy and global expansion. It also conducts other economic studies of policy significance to the Houston area.

In the initial three Economic Update segments, Paul Murphy, CEO and president of Cadence Bancorp, and Gilmer tackled pressing issues such as the impact of falling oil prices on the economy in Houston and across Texas, as well as what a strengthening U.S. economy may mean for interest rates.

The multi-part Economic Update series continues weekly through May 12, 2015. Videos may be viewed at cadencebank.com/economic-update.
