Cadence Bank Foundation Donates $50,000 to Urban Hope Development

Supporting the organization's focus on education and economic development in Alabama

BIRMINGHAM, Ala., December 22, 2021
- Cadence Bank (NYSE: CADE) announced today that its Cadence Bank Foundation has made a $50,000 contribution to Urban Hope Development (UHD), supporting the organization's mission to educate and enrich the lives of at-risk students from low-income communities.

This donation was made in honor of Sam Tortorici’s 10 years of service at Cadence Bank as a member of the board of directors. UHD will use the Cadence Bank Foundation funds for the following programs:

  • Crisis assistance, including childcare needs, housing assistance and food supply
  • Education support for students and adults, including tutoring, GED preparation, resume building and mentoring
  • Economic development, including work life preparedness training, understanding finances, job training and placementHousing development focused on helping renovate and improve the properties in the Fairfield neighborhoods allowing for more homeownership and community stability

Urban Hope Development was launched in February 2013 and became an official 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization in May 2015. UHD provides a holistic approach for students and their families, by addressing emergency needs, education, economic development and housing, along with a variety of other barriers to long term sustainable change in families as well as their surrounding communities. In addition, during the summer of 2014, UHD began providing quality summer enrichment programs designed to stop summer learning loss to Fairfield city schools’ rising sixth, seventh and eighth grade students through UHope Success Academy.
