Is there a penalty for withdrawing a CD before it matures?

 

Yes. If the CD has a 30 day to six month term, then there is a penalty of 30 day of interest. For any CDs that have a 12 to 13 month term, there is a penalty of 90 days worth of interest. If the term is 24 months, then the penalty is 180 days of interest. Finally, if the term is over 24 months, the penalty for withdrawing early is 365 days of interest.
