MDA Teams with Cadence Bank for Shamrocks Against Dystrophy

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. and HOUSTON, April 1, 2013 – The Muscular Dystrophy Association was proud to team up with Cadence Bank through the 2013 Shamrocks Against Dystrophy program during the month of March. Cadence Bank sold green and gold shamrocks in their branches with funds benefiting the Muscular Dystrophy Association.

“Cadence Bank is pleased to support the Muscular Dystrophy Association,” said Sam Tortorici, CEO, Cadence Bank. “The health and vitality of our neighbors contributes to the overall strength of our local economies. Every individual is entitled to a quality life, and as an active member of our local communities, we believe it is important to take a lead role in making this possible. We applaud the MDA for the great work they are doing.”

Funds raised through the Shamrocks Against Dystrophy program will enable MDA to pay for muscle biopsies and flu shots, organize support group sessions and follow-up clinic visits, help with the maintenance of wheelchairs and communication devices, and support a week-long summer camp for local MDA patients ages six to 17 years. In addition, MDA will continue to be able to fund valuable research for the treatment and cures for more than 40 neuromuscular diseases, including ALS (Lou Gehrig’s Disease).

The Muscular Dystrophy Association is appreciative to Cadence Bank for the support and dedication to the MDA mission through this program. Cadence operates more than 100 branches across Alabama, Florida, Georgia, Mississippi, Tennessee and Texas, all of which took part in this worthwhile initiative.
