Cadence Bank Recognizes Entrepreneur of the Year at University of Georgia’s Public Service and Outreach Awards Luncheon

Cadence Bank continues State Bank’s longstanding relationship with Small Business Development Center by sponsoring award

ATLANTA, April 24, 2019 — Cadence Bank, N.A., the operating subsidiary of Cadence Bancorporation (NYSE: CADE), in collaboration with the University of Georgia Small Business Development Center (“SBDC”), recently recognized Will Harris as Entrepreneur of the Year at the 2019 Public Service and Outreach awards luncheon. Harris is a fourth-generation cattleman and owner of White Oak Pastures in Bluffton, Georgia.

The Entrepreneur of the Year Award is sponsored by Cadence Bank, and recognizes a company that has exhibited significant growth in business, benefitted from a variety of formal learning opportunities through the SBDC, and served as a public advocate of business ownership. The award was presented to Harris by Alan Thomes, managing director of SBA Banking at Cadence Bank.

“Hardworking entrepreneurs like Will Harris launch new enterprises, create jobs and fuel economic growth in our state. Cadence Bank is proud to recognize his contributions to Georgia’s agricultural and agritourism industries with this well-deserved award,” said Thomes. “We’re also honored to continue a longstanding sponsorship with the SBDC, which began in 2013. We’re committed to supporting Georgia’s business owners through our collective efforts with the SBDC and the University of Georgia, and look forward to offering tools and solutions to keep small businesses financially healthy for years to come.” Harris became a client of the SBDC over a decade ago. Working the same land that his great-grandfather settled in 1866, Harris now operates the farm in nearly the same way as his ancestors, after transforming his industrial farm into one of the largest grass-fed, pasture-raised livestock operations in the country. Harris has expanded his operation to include on-property cabins for agritourism. He also recently opened his own general store, the first retail store to open in Bluffton in more than 40 years. Additionally, Harris hosts researchers from across the country to study the multi-species grazing practices utilized at White Oak Pastures, while also making himself available to speak with visiting individuals and groups to share his farming methods and business experience.
