Cadence Bank Adds Banking and Wealth Services in Huntsville

BIRMINGHAM, Ala., April 25, 2013 — Cadence Bank brings Commercial & Industrial and Business Banking services to the Huntsville, Ala. and North Alabama markets to meet the banking and financing needs of local businesses, and expands its Mid-South Wealth Services team with the addition of a Wealth group serving high net worth clients in these markets.

Robert Curtis, who has played a significant role in helping develop the bank’s expanded teams, serves as senior vice president, North Alabama market executive for Commercial and Industrial (C&I) Banking at Cadence. John Maner, senior vice president, leads Business Banking for the bank’s Huntsville market, and the new Wealth team consists of Lisa Abbott and Chris Russell, both senior vice presidents in Private Banking, supported by Jill Anderson, senior client associate.

“We are thrilled by the talent we have assembled at Cadence in North Alabama,” said Curtis. “Hiring a team of bankers with such diverse backgrounds and wealth of experience is a testament to our commitment to the Huntsville and North Alabama markets. Being part of Cadence allows us to provide our clients with the capabilities and best-in-class products of a much larger financial institution, paired with the delivery and personal attention found at a smaller bank.”

Curtis is charged with building and managing the Commercial Banking group for Huntsville and North Alabama. He works closely with commercial and middle market clients to develop and execute highly specialized financial solutions, augmented by sophisticated treasury management solutions and foreign exchange. During his diverse 25-year background in the financial services industry, Curtis has served in various roles, including executive-level positions within Retail Banking, Branch Administration, Private Banking, Wealth Management and Commercial Banking. Actively involved in industry organizations and the community, he has served as state president of the Alabama Young Bankers Association and chairman of ambassadors for the Huntsville/Madison County Chamber of Commerce, and also is a graduate of the Decatur/Morgan County Alabama Chamber Leadership Program. He holds a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration from Athens University and an Executive Banking Diploma from The Stonier Graduate School of Banking at Georgetown University.

Maner is responsible for the development of a strong Business Banking team focused on maximizing internal and external alliances to best serve clients. With 23 years of industry experience, he has held various leadership roles in Business and Commercial Banking as well as Private Banking at top financial institutions serving Huntsville/Madison County, and has worked extensively with owner-managed businesses in the area. Most recently, Maner served as vice president of Business Banking at PNC. He previously worked in Business Banking at Regions Bank. Maner earned a bachelor’s degree in Accounting from the University of North Alabama, and upon graduation completed a nine-month retail management training program at AmSouth Bank.

Abbott and Russell cumulatively bring nearly 35 years of experience in private banking and financial services at leading financial institutions in Huntsville. Their talent and expertise are a fitting combination with the full array of wealth-related services for every life stage available through Cadence, including wealth management, private banking, investment and trust services, financial planning, retirement plan management, insurance, and consumer lines and loans.

Both Abbott and Russell are active in the Huntsville community, where they are involved with the American Cancer Society, Leadership Huntsville and Rotary Clubs of Huntsville. Abbott is the current co-chair for the American Cancer Society’s 2013 Summer Lights Gala and a board member for Distinguished Young Women. She served as last year’s chair for local government at Leadership Huntsville. Russell serves as vice-chair and chair-elect of the Board of Directors for Leadership Huntsville. In 2012, he was recognized as the Professional Advisor of the Year by the Huntsville/Madison County Community Foundation, where he is the founding chairperson and a current board member. He is an honoree for the American Cancer Society’s 2013 Summer Lights Gala, and in 2009, he received the Community Volunteer of the Year award from the American Cancer Society’s Six-State Mid-South Region.

Abbott and Russell were attracted to Cadence’s service-focused philosophy, both thriving on the opportunity to deliver an exceptional client experience that addresses the full range of financial needs that is unique to each client. They each earned a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration, Abbot from Athens State University and Russell from Auburn University.

Anderson, a life-long Huntsville resident, brings five years of experience in the financial and legal services industries and will support Abbott and Russell in serving the bank’s clients.

“We are excited to bring this new team on board, as well as an expanded array of financial services to clients in Huntsville and North Alabama,” said Sam Tortorici, CEO for Cadence. “They each bring significant expertise in their respective areas that will help us develop an exciting and distinctive experience for our consumer, business and commercial clients.
