Cadence Bank Keeps Careful Eye on Target Card Breach

Impacted Cadence Customers Have Been Notified

Jan. 13, 2014 - It was announced publicly in December that a breach of sensitive credit and debit card data had occurred at Target stores nationwide.

Cadence customers whose cards were compromised have been contacted with a specific course of action, including replacing and deactivating their cards.

We also encourage our customers to keep a close watch on their account statements. While only data related to this card may have been captured, here are some valuable tips to help protect yourself from identify theft:

  • You may contact the credit bureaus and request that they place a fraud alert in your credit file. A fraud alert tells creditors to contact you before they open any new accounts or make changes to your existing accounts.
  • It is always a good idea to periodically review your credit reports for fraudulent activity and request to have information relating to fraudulent transactions deleted.
  • You may obtain one free credit report per year from or by calling the credit bureaus at the following numbers:

  • In addition, the Federal Trade Commission provides guidance concerning the steps you can take to protect against identity theft. This guidance is available online at or you may obtain it by calling 1-877-438-4338. Incidents of identity theft should be reported to the Federal Trade Commission through their website or by telephone.

If you have any questions or comments concerning this issue, please feel free to contact us at 800-636-7622.
